Quick answer: The LinkedIn image size for a standard post image is 1200 × 627 pixels (1.91:1). Link shares use the 1200 × 630 Open Graph image, and document carousels are separate PDF uploads with their own page dimensions.

This page covers all three, plus the profile and company images while we're here.

LinkedIn size table

Placement Size (px) Ratio Notes
Post image 1200 × 627 1.91:1 Standard share-with-image
Square / portrait post 1080 × 1080 / 1080 × 1350 1:1 / 4:5 Displayed with margins
Link share preview 1200 × 630 1.91:1 Pulled from the page's OG tag
Document carousel page 1080 × 1080 or 1080 × 1350 1:1 or 4:5 PDF, DOCX, PPT, PPTX up to 100 MB / 300 pages
Profile picture 400 × 400 1:1 Circular display
Profile banner 1584 × 396 4:1 Keep the center for mobile
Company page banner 1128 × 191 5.9:1 Thin strip

The carousel is a document attached to a post. LinkedIn accepts PDF, DOCX, DOC, PPT, and PPTX files up to 100 MB and 300 pages, per LinkedIn's own document-ads documentation. Organic launch carousels should be 6–10 pages; LinkedIn's content playbook recommends starting with 3–5 cards and testing more.

Design pages at 1080 px wide: square 1080 × 1080 is the safest reusable size, and 1080 × 1350 portrait fills the mobile feed. Export as a PDF, one page per card. The full card-by-card build is in how to make a LinkedIn carousel for a product launch.

Why the link share and the post image differ

The 1200 × 627 image is something you upload directly. The 1200 × 630 link card is not uploaded; it is pulled from the target page's Open Graph tags when you post a URL. If your landing page has a bad OG image, every LinkedIn share of it looks bad, regardless of what you design.

For most launches the 3-pixel difference between 627 and 630 is harmless on a full-bleed image. Keep text away from the extreme bottom edge if you want one file to serve both.

How LinkedIn displays feed images

LinkedIn is a desktop-and-mobile network. Feed images display at 1.91:1 on wide screens and get margins on smaller screens. Landscape images look most native in the feed; square and portrait uploads display as centered cards with empty space around them.

Carousels are the exception: because they're documents, they're presented as swipeable cards and support portrait pages well.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload a PDF to a LinkedIn post? Yes, that's how the document carousel works. One page per card, up to 100 MB and 300 pages.

How many pages should a LinkedIn carousel have? 3–5 to start, 6–10 for a launch. The 300-page limit is for ads, not organic posts.

What is the LinkedIn post image size for an announcement? 1200 × 627. If the announcement also links to a landing page, make the page's OG image 1200 × 630.

Why is my link preview blank or old? LinkedIn cached the page the first time it was shared. Re-run the Post Inspector (LinkedIn's official tool) to refresh the preview after you fix the OG tags.

Can I use the same image for LinkedIn and X? X uses 1200 × 675; LinkedIn uses 1200 × 627. A full-bleed image works in both, but a 1200 × 630 OG image is the safer single file.

For the other platform sizes, see the 2026 image sizes table.

The one image to fix before a launch is the 1200 × 630 OG image, because it appears in every LinkedIn share of your link.
